AZOTE® and ZOTEK®
AZOTE® and ZOTEK®
are ranges of cross-linked foams manufactured by Zotefoams.
These are different foam polymers, but what they have in common is the unique technology. They are all expanded without any chemical blowing agents and the only gas used for foaming purposes is pure nitrogen. Because of this, they are chemically and biologically inert.
This is very important for use in medicinal products and any other products, which come into contact with the user’s skin.
Products incorporating these materials can be certified for medical and food-grade use.
Types of foam recommended for medical uses (in accordance with toxicity studies):
Plastazote®
LD15, LD18, LD24, LD29, LD33, LD45, LD60, LD70, HD30, HD60,
HD80, HD115
Evazote®
EM26, EV30, EV50, MT35, VA25, VA35, VA65, VA80
Plastazote® and Evazote® are tested for compliance with ISO 10993 parts 1, 5, 10, 18.
Declaration of conformity with:
Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation
They are used in packaging and there is no risk of them reacting with the packed objects (e.g. exposing them to corrosion).
Another important attribute of this unique technology is the evenly distributed density (and consequentially all physical and mechanical properties) of the foam throughout the entire block.
SUPAZOTE® – ethylene copolymer foam; super soft
EVAZOTE® – EVA foam; soft; range of application up to 70°C
PLASTAZOTE® and AZOTE Adapt® – polyethylene foam; hard; range of application up to 95°C
PROPOZOTE® -polypropylene foam; harder and more rigid; range of application up to 130°C
ZOTEK N® – polyamide foam (nylon 6); even harder and even more rigid; range of application up to 200°C
All materials in this group are thermoplastic – they can be thermoformed. The can also be machine-processed (cut and milled / routed). They also come in self-stick versions.
