BASOTECT®
Basotect® is a flexible open-cell foam made from melamine resin – a thermosetting polymer. Its exceptional flexibility stems from its distinctive structural design, where thin interwoven fibre of the spatial mesh allow its easy deformation. Melamine foam is flame-resistant and capable of withstanding temperatures up to 240ºC. Its relative density is approximately 9 kg/m³. The open-cell surface of Basotect® foam ensures that sound waves are not reflected as echoes but can freely penetrate the material’s structure. The energy of sound is reduced as it is dispersed throughout the cellular structure to ensure excellent sound absorption properties. At lower frequencies, the sound quality can be improved by adding layers of a heavier material.

Basotect® is a single product, which fulfils numerous requirements posed before high performance foam.
Its properties include sound absorption, flame resistance, thermal insulation, and resistance to abrasion.
The attractiveness of this material is also determined by its thermal insulation capabilities, exceptionally light weight, and ability to maintain its physical properties over a broad temperature spectrum. Following impregnation, it becomes hydrophobic and resistant to oil, enabling its conversion into a thermoplastic material.
A self-adhering version with a range of different adhesives is also available.
Basotect® foam applications
Basotect® delivers an extensive array of options for construction and industrial purposes, for the automotive and transport sector, and for consumer products.
Basotect® considerably improves acoustics in places like restaurants, reception areas, conference halls, and aircraft cabins.
It is found predominantly in acoustic panels and suspended buffers. It is very easy to dye, which makes it a popular choice for purposes of interior decoration.
It is also combined with other materials such as textiles and films.
