EPDM foam
Synthetic rubber foam for seals and gaskets
EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) foam is a resilient cellular material with closed pores.
In scope of polymers foams, it is classified as a flexible and soft material.
It offers excellent adhesion to various types of surfaces and vibration dampening properties.
EPDM foam also offers a high friction coefficient in contact with various typical surfaces.
Due to its closed-cell structure, it is a non-absorbent material.
EPDM foam has the distinctive ability to combine temperature resistance up to 140°C while maintaining softness and flexibility. Consequently, when it comes to the temperature range for application, it can compete with polypropylene (PP) despite being at the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of hardness and stiffness.
In terms of hardness, elasticity, and stiffness, closed-cell polymer foams are ranked as follows (starting from the softest):
SI ; CR ; EPDM ; EVA ; PE ; PP ; PA *
EPDM foam application
In automotive, machinery, and construction industries – due to its sealing properties and vibration damping capabilities
– car light gaskets, self-adhesive seals and die cuts for car part assembly
– anti-vibration pads and technical seals in ADG equipment, devices, and structures
– universal seals for construction and installation purposes,
In the office accessories industry – to reduce the noise generated by office equipment and stop gadgets from slipping
In the tool industry – floor scrapers (which do not scratch surfaces and adhere well to the surface)
EPDM foam processing
– cutting and machine processing
– bonding
