Thanks to its open cells, PORON® XRD is a breathable foam, which helps ensure body comfort when used in specialised clothing.
Its applications can be designed with consideration of several densities and the resulting hardness levels. Various types of the material can also be composed into a laminate.
PORON® XRD deforms instantaneously on impact, absorbing up to 90% of energy – the faster the impact, the more energy is absorbed. When exposed to a quick impact, this soft material “freezes” for a split-second and hardens to produce a convenient protective shell. Since the material does not have to be too thick to provide protection, it can be used to replace large and cumbersome elements made from traditional foams.
With its antimicrobial protection, it prevents development of detrimental flora.
